Rob McGuire believes in fighting for his clients as well as serving as their advisor and partner in challenging situations. For over thirteen years as a prosecutor, Rob honed his skills in the courtroom and as a negotiator. He has earned a reputation as one of the best trial attorneys in Nashville. A veteran of over ninety jury trials, Rob serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law in Trial Advocacy at Belmont Law School and has served in the same capacity at Vanderbilt Law School. He is a contributing editor for Attorney At Law magazine. He has been recognized as one of the Top 1% of Attorneys in the Nation by the Association of Distinguished Counsel and was recognized as a Mid-South Rising Star by Super Lawyers in both 2015 and 2016.

Rob handles criminal defense matters in both state and federal court and aggressively defends his clients with a superior knowledge of criminal law and unparalleled experience. He practices in state and federal court and he has advised clients who have been arrested and charged with serious crime as well as clients who have found themselves in the midst of a state or federal investigation. Rob has also advised corporate clients on dealing with embezzlement in their own companies. Rob works with clients in state courts throughout Middle Tennessee and the United States District Court for Middle Tennessee. His contacts in local, state, and federal law enforcement as well as the halls of government give his clients an advantage as they face their issues. Rob is certified as a Criminal Trial Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and is one of only twenty-four attorneys in Tennessee to hold this specialization.

Rob also has an active civil practice representing plaintiffs in personal injury, wrongful death and medical malpractice lawsuits. He has also served as a defense attorney in civil matters. Whether representing a plaintiff or defendant, Rob is always on the offensive using his well honed trial tactics to give his client every advantage in contested litigation. Rob has a reputation as a tough and aggressive litigator who is respected by his opponents and the trial court judges he appears in front of.

Rob's unique, trial-heavy background gives him the tools to persuade in the courtroom and has also provided him with the experience necessary to successfully negotiate a positive resolution to the most complicated legal situation his client may face.

A Nashville native, Rob graduated with honors from Northwestern University before earning his law degree at Vanderbilt Law School. While in law school, he was a member of the Vanderbilt Law Review and a member of the school's Honor Council. His brother is former Metro Councilman Sean McGuire (25th District - Green Hills 2007-2015). He is a member of the Davidson County Democratic Executive Committee and was a delegate to the 2016 Democratic National Convention.
